Built for political professionals who demand intelligence, not noise.
Undercurrent Intelligence, Inc. is a data derivative and intelligence company. We build infrastructure that turns passive, open-web behavioral signal into structured intelligence products. Undercurrent Data is our first product, focused on political and public affairs intelligence resolved from state down to city — across congressional districts and counties. Future products will extend the same pipeline into adjacent verticals where behavioral signal at scale can produce decision-grade intelligence.
Every political campaign, public affairs firm, and polling shop faces the same problem. They are flying mostly blind between data events: a poll from three weeks ago, a focus group from two months ago, intuition filling the gaps in between.
Meanwhile, the geographies they are trying to understand are constantly generating signal. Millions of people, every day, reading about the topics they care about, consuming content that reflects their concerns, anxieties, and priorities. That signal has always been there. Until now, nobody has organized it into intelligence resolved from state down to city.
Undercurrent Data was built to solve that problem. We convert behavioral signal from across the open internet, hundreds of millions of events per day, into a structured intelligence product that tells you what every state, congressional district, county, and city is actually thinking, right now.
Polling is a snapshot. It tells you what a sample of people said they believed on the day they were asked. It is retrospective by nature, and it is getting more fragile every cycle: response rates are down, samples are harder to validate, and methodology disputes have shaken confidence in the whole category.
Undercurrent is not a replacement for polling. It is behavioral signal. We are not asking people what they think; we are observing what they read, what content they seek out, and what topics they engage with, across millions of data points a day, resolved from state down to city.
The result is an intelligence layer that complements polling, precedes it, and runs continuously between survey waves. When something shifts in a district, we see it in the signal before it shows up in a poll. That intelligence latency isn't a feature we talk about. It's the whole product.
The Undercurrent platform is built on a proprietary pipeline that processes behavioral content consumption signals from across the open web. These signals are privacy-compliant, cookieless, and structured to meet the requirements of modern data governance. We do not build or sell individual user profiles. Signal is delivered as aggregate intelligence — at the state, congressional district, county, or city level.
Each signal is geolocated and attributed across two census-validated hierarchies — state → congressional district → city, and state → county → city — so you can move from a national view down to a single city in either frame, depending on whether you're working a federal race, a county initiative, or a municipal fight. Topic classification organizes content into an open list of issues that grows over time, so new concerns surface as soon as people start reading about them, rather than waiting for someone to add them to a fixed list. Sentiment scoring applies positive, neutral, and negative valence at the topic-geography level. The result is a continuously updated intelligence layer covering every geography in the country.
Audience matching against voter files and donor lists is achieved through a probabilistic matching methodology that joins signal audiences to named audiences without requiring individual-level data exchange. Privacy by design, accuracy by architecture.
Undercurrent is built for political professionals who operate at the strategy layer. Pollsters who want behavioral signal to inform questionnaire design and flag emerging issues between waves. Public affairs firms tracking narrative shifts for clients in regulated industries or political campaigns. Campaign strategists — federal, state, and local — who need to know what their geography cares about today, not last quarter. Digital persuasion firms that excel at execution and want an intelligence layer that tells them what to say and to whom. Ballot-initiative campaigns, unions, hospital systems, and regional advocacy coalitions whose fight is local and whose questions resolve at the county and city level.
We are not a polling company, not a voter file vendor, and not an ad platform. We are the intelligence layer that sits beneath all of those: the signal that informs strategy before a dollar is spent on execution.
Undercurrent is currently accepting a limited number of founding pilot clients. Pricing is scoped to your needs. Reach out and we'll put together something that makes sense for your use case.
